„Ship accident in Durres, 2 dead, six lost “

A cargo ship sunk near the port of Durres after a collision with a Durres-Bari ferry, in the first hours of the morning.

Durres emergency forces and police have rushed in the scene, sending to survivors to the nearest hospital. Passengers confirm of having seen two bodies being pulled out of water by the emergency teams.

Preliminary information suggest that there were 10 crew members on board of the sinking ship, and six of them haven’t been found yet.

The collision took place two hours after the ferry sailed off the Durres port. Passengers say that the ferry has turned the engines off, but it remains unknown if it is ready to sail.

There is no official data yet for the exact number of the sinking ship crew or for the number of victims.
