BELGRADE — According to Belgrade daily Blic, SRS leader Vojislav Šešelj „ordered the assassination of his former deputy Tomislav Nikolić“.
For the past seven years, Šešelj has been detained at the Hague Tribunal undergoing trial on war crimes charges, while Nikolić broke away from the Radicals (SRS) in the meantime, setting up his own party, the Serb Progressives (SNS).
Now the newspaper claims in an article published today that the plot to kill Nikolić was uncovered by the „Serbian security services on Monday, which led to security being elevated to the highest level at Monday’s opposition rally in Kruševac“.
According to unnamed sources, Šešelj ordered the assassination from The Hague, and allegedly sought the services of notorious criminal Luka Bojović.
Bojović „had already prepared a team for the task“, the daily states.
